Woodlands Store Experience

Since 2019 I have worked as part of the team designing the new store experience for a freshly built store in Woodlands, TX.

This was one of the first stores to get the new Best Buy look and feel that was launched in 2018 on the outside. We took into consideration new shopping habits such as curbside pickup and in-store pickup and baked those into the layout of the store. Order pickup now has it’s own entrance, in addition to covered drive up spots for curbside pickup.

We created space in the corners of our path around the store for branded takeovers, expanding beyond the Apple and Microsoft experiences that already existed in many stores. These are experiential spaces for customer discovery, where they can learn more about the brand, their products, and get a more in-depth look at what they’re offering. It’s also an area where we can showcase newer categories Best Buy has begun to sell.

In most of the larger departments, as well as near our brand takeovers, we added in monitors that allow us to message bigger company offerings to the customer, such as delivery, pickup and Geek Squad repair. This has allowed us to remove lots of paper signage from our shelves, reducing the weekly waste we create.

New flexible fixtures will allow us more flexibility to pivot in the future. Working on a newly built store also allowed us to focus on everything from the signage on the outside, to the product tags in the stores. Every department, sign and experience was able to evolve into something new.
